VB7MAN is QRT! Operation MANNA@80 Special Event Concludes

From event organizer John VE7TI: Our SARC MANNA@80 special event station VB7MAN has now concluded. SARC members and others made just under 3300 contacts in 88 countries, resulting in 14,394 QRZ.com lookups. The logbook has been uploaded to QRZ and to LOTW and we are now filling requests for QSL cards, both printed and digital. Thank you to all who participated, especially our guest operators throughout BC, and the CW contest team from SARC. Other operators deserve special mention: Jeanne VA7QD, Christine VA7TU, Mark VA7MM and Fred VE7IO for hours on the air.  Also, to Horace VA7XHB and Stan VA7NF for their time staffing the trailer at Camp McLean on MANNA weekend and Doug VE7CQT for his DMR assistance. All devoted many hours to make this a success. Special thanks also to co-organizers John VA7XB and Fred VE7IO.

John VE7TI anticipates that there will be a wrap-up article forthcoming from the European organizers. A post-event video is at: https://youtu.be/nGgMLRMqPmw

And the following from Andy M0IYE, Rose 2E0RXO and Daron 2E0GFY (International Bomber Command Centre Radio Team)…

Together we achieved over eight thousand contacts, over sixty thousand QRZ lookups, and the production of a fantastic film.  We were in national, local and radio news, and got loads of children on the air. We all had some fantastic conversations with some wonderful people. We would like to remember the sacrifice of those in Bomber Command and the Bomber Squadrons of the USAAF, the deadliest branch of service in WW2 with another International series of SES events the same as we did for operation Manna.

But we also commemorate those all around the world who keep the memory alive, such as the Bomber Command Museum of Canada, a small thing like a Memorial at a crash site and the work still going on today to recover and bury aircrew.

Thank you for the huge effort you all made for operation manna@80 an incredible result! We made a big splash in the amateur radio world and hopefully educated or reminded people of the mistakes of the past. Thanks to ALL for YOUR HARD WORK!. Special thanks to you, John Schouten VE7TI for your promotion and help with MANNA. You made a huge difference!!!! It is really appreciated !!

USEFUL LINKS

Comprehensive Index to Communicator Articles

Thanks to the impressive efforts of Blake VA7BWG and Reg VA7ZEB, a database index of Communicator articles back to 2007 is now available at Surrey Radio - Search the Archive . Try it out by entering a topic, author or anything in the search box.

You will also find PDF Indexes available for download.  If you click on Author Index, Topic Index or Chronological Index, it will bring up a PDF where you can find the page number of interest for your selection. Scroll down to the relevant page number and you will find the article, which you can open.   The May-June Communicator includes more comprehensive how-to-use instructions: https://ve7sar.blogspot.com/search/label/SARC Communicator.

Parks-on-the-Air (POTA) Brochure Available

Members who do POTA are frequently approached by passers-by inquiring what we are doing. For this purpose, John VE7TI has created a SARC POTA brochure that can be handed out. The .pdf file is available for download at https://bit.ly/POTAbrochure.

Do You Want to Learn CW?

Check out the Long Island CW Club, which has a comprehensive and highly-regarded on-line program for learning and mastering Morse Code: https://longislandcwclub.org/#.
